Located on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, Daphne, AL, is known as the Jubilee City on the Eastern Shore of Baldwin County, Alabama. South Alabama offers a wide variety of fun activities to do along with peaceful places to relax. Today we are going to focus on the city of Daphne.
When it comes to things to do, we recognize we all have different ideas of what makes something BEST! Perhaps for some of you, it includes relaxation, maybe historical is best for you, while others might be looking for a great adventure! This list will touch on a few different things to do in Daphne, so you might find your perfect day!
1. Visit Daphne Historic Museum
Why not start off learning about our fabulous Jubilee City, and how we became know for this nickname. Located at 405 Dryer Avenue, also known as the Daphne Old Methodist Church Museum, the Daphne Historic Museum is the second oldest church in Baldwin County. It is enlisted on the National Register of Historic Places. Constructed in 1858 as a place of worship for the residents of Daphne, the church was designated in 2001 as a museum dedicated to educating the public about the history of Daphne and the surrounding communities. 2. Play Golf

4. Take a Walk at Gator Boardwalk
Gator Boardwalk located at 29281 N. Main Street, at D’Olive Creek offers a unique experience of alligator watching. Along the boardwalk, you can read the educational signage to learn about alligators. If perhaps you don’t get your fulfillment of alligators on the Gator Boardwalk, we would highly recommend you take the short drive to Summerdale, AL to visit Alligator Alley.
5. American Sport Art Museum & Archives
If sports history is your thing, you definitely need to check out the American Sport Art Museum & Archives. Founded in 1984, the American Sport Art Museum and Archives (ASAMA), believed to be the largest collection of sport art in the world, is composed of more than 1,800 pieces across all media, including paintings, sculptures, assemblages, prints, posters, and photography.
6. Visit USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
While this is technically in Spanish Fort, AL, it’s a super short drive from Daphne and something you should not miss out on experiencing. Nicknamed the “Mighty A”, visiting the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park will be a fun day for any age group. The park offers more than the USS Alabama Battleship to explore, you will also find aircraft, a submarine, and more.
7. Spend Your Day Shopping
Daphne has several places to shop all over our city! However, the city’s largest concentrated area of stores together is Jubilee Square. Located at 6850 US Highway 90 in Daphne this shopping center is a fun way to spend your day. With 40 stores ranging from salons, restaurants, a pet store, retail stores, and more you can surely find what you are looking to purchase or just spend your day browsing. I personally, can spend an hour in Bed, Bath, and Beyond just looking around! While you are there you can also catch a movie at the AMC CLASSIC Jubilee Square 12 movie theater.
8. Take a Day Trip to a Beach
While Daphne has a few parks with water access to the Mobile Bay, there are no true beaches in Daphne. However, with a shore drive, you can be relaxing the day away in the warm sun with sandy beached at your feet! Usually, with-in an hour or so, you can be on a beach! Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama Beaches are very family-friendly and spacious. With 32 miles of pristine beachfront, Alabama beaches offer 10 public-access spots along the shoreline! Or, you could head over the Pensacola beach in Flordia.
9. Inshore Fishing Charter
Ugly Fishing is a guide service for fishing excursions that services the entirety of the Mobile Bay area, as well as the rest of the state of Alabama’s coast. The guide service provides fishing charters for both residents and visitors alike in Daphne, Point Clear, Fairhope, Orange Beach, Dauphin Island, Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, Mobile, Grand Bay, Bayou La Batre, Theodore, and Spanish Fort. The primary captain and owner of Ugly Fishing is Captain Patric Garmeson, who has more than thirty years of experience fishing in the waters of the Mobile Bay area. He started his fishing guide service in 2010.
